PortfolioCottonfield House - February 2011ROOF CONVERSION - This attic bedroom was renovated with a new roof. The old roof was removed and a new roof was fitted which effectively added a minimum of 50cm in height in some places, and more in others. The old roof was removed and a new timber roof frame was fitted. The infil between the wooden timbers was done in wood panels and the entire internal roof was painted in white to create an even more spacious effect in this room. The external and internal aircon units were repositioned, and a new PVC door was fitted to the storage space under the roof. New white tip and tilt PCV windows were fitted, as new curtains. The electrics were rewired and four new wall mounted lights were selected and fitted. New sockets were wired and fitted as well. All loft walls were repainted. A new pressed wood internal door was fitted to match the other internal doors throughout. Completion time from start date to finish: 5 weeks
Villa Krystal - March 2011KITCHEN / SUSPENDED CEILING / FLOORING - The old kitchen was gutted and ripped out, as well as the window. A larger tip and tilt PVC window was fitted with a walnut external frame and a white internal frame. New black ceramic floor tiles were fitted in the kitchen area with a black grout. A new white high gloss MDF kitchen was fitted, to measure, and a new ergonomic lay out was designed for the new kitchen. All drawers and doors were fitted with soft close hinges and rails, and in some cupboards were fitted with sliding/pull out pantry units, as was a pull out bin fitted. Matching black kick board was placed to match the new black floor tiles. The work top chosen is an acrylic black work top with red and silver dots, with a molded sink and drain area of the same material (no seams!) plus a lip to ensure water does not spill over the edge. A modern tap was chosen to complete the new modern look of the kitchen. The oven, hob and dishwasher and fridge were fitted, and a new modern style extractor fan was fitted against a black back splash. The gas bottle for the hob was relocated outside in a special brick/cement/roof tiles construction. New plumbing was carried out to connect to the tap and the fridge, which has a built in water dispenser and ice machine. All electrics were rewired and repositioned, and extra electric was fitted for more sockets. Modern black sockets and switches were fitted to match the black back splash. Also fitted were down lighters above the work top. Also fitted was a suspended ceiling with spot lights, on a dimmer switch. Completion time from start to finish: 4 weeks
Villa Rhobann - November 2010PATIO - This patio was extended and new a new roof was constructed. The roof was constructed of a metal frame with wood beams and terracotta roof tiles. Wrought iron ballustrades were made to the same design as the wrought iron grilles around the property windows, and fitted and painted with a white metallic paint. New steps were created of a reinforced foundation, and finished with travertine and mugla (decorative) stone. Completion time from start to finish: 3 weeks
Mustapha Villas (Ann Prewer) - October 2011GROUND FLOOR SHOWER ROOM - This ground floor bathroom was completely gutted and all pipe work was renewed. All old fixtures and fittings were removed and disposed off. The floor in the shower area were rebuild at an angle so as to ensure water drains easily when the floor gets wet. The shower floor was sunk 3cm into the floor in order for the sink and entrance door area stay dry during showers. The shower unit chosen is a built-in single function shower head fitted inside the wall. New wall and floor tiles were fitted, as well as a hidden cistern toilet, sink and mirror, shower and shower bracket and tap. All accessories were renewed and fitted in ergonomic places, as were chrome floor drains fitted throughout. The back and side wall of the shower area were tiled using a mosaic tile, matching to the other wall tiles, to make this area stand out. A thin strip of coving was fitted between the walls and ceiling. Electrics were rewired for the shaver point as was the wall mounted light fitting renewed. Completion time from start to finish: 2 weeks
Villa Wagtail - Spring 2011FIRST FLOOR BATHROOM - This first floor bathroom was completely gutted and all pipe work was renewed. A low level shower wall was fitted (180cm height) to seperate the shower area from the toilet area, and the old bath was removed and disposed of. A small ledge was fitted between the shower space and the toilet area to ensure shower water stays contained in the shower area, which was tiled in the same wall tile as the low level wall. The floor in both the shower area and the bathroom were rebuild at an angle so as to ensure water drains easily when the floor gets wet. The shower unit chosen is a built-in single function shower head fitted inside the wall. New wall and floor tiles were fitted, as well as a hidden cistern toilet, sink plus fitted vanity unit and matching mirror, fitted shower and mixer tap. All accessories were renewed and fitted in ergonomic places, as were chrome floor drains fitted throughout. A thin coving was fitted between the walls and ceiling, plus a new PVC window was fitted with a tip and tilt opening mechanism. A new pressed wood door was fitted with an aluminium handle plus a thumbturn lock. Electrics were rewired for the shaver point, the wall mounted light fitting and the ceiling light fitting, as were new sockets and switches fitted for these. New lights were selected and fitted. Completion time from start to finish: 2,5 weeks
